What is our connection to Panera Bread?

Panera Bread allows organizations to come each night to pick up items that they no longer want to hold over to sell the next day.  QSUMC goes each Saturday night to pick up baked goods at about 8:30 pm.

Why are we involved with this ministry?

We provide Panera a way to give back and keep food from going into a dumpster. The baked goods are still shelf quality. The money donated from distributing some of the bread on Sunday morning goes to our homeless ministries. In addition, some of the baked goods go to an Oklahoma City children’s program. We also distribute some of the bread to the families in our afterschool program called Connection. The rest goes onto the shelves at Skyline Urban Ministry on Monday mornings.

How do I get involved?

An online Sign Up Genius has been created for volunteers to sign up to help either Saturday night or some Sunday mornings at 8:00am to set out the display for donations to further our homeless ministries. Volunteers will need to sign up with someone from our core team to gain access to the Christian Life Center on Saturday night. Members of the church who want to be regular helpers can see the ministry coordinator for gaining access to the CLC.
